Eimear Connaughton
PgDip in Cognitive Psychotherapy, HSE trained in DBT.
Eimear is a CORU registered Occupational Therapist with over 15 years' experience in mental health settings, including specialised perinatal mental health services at Galway University Hospital. She is currently a part-time lecturer at University of Galway and studying Clinical Supervision.
Eimear integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) approaches to support adults with skills-based therapy. She specialises in helping people develop emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and self-efficacy through practical educational tools and frameworks.
Using evidence-based approaches, Eimear addresses challenges including motivation difficulties, planning and organisation issues, social situations, emotional management (anger, overwhelm, anxiety), and self-critical thinking. She supports clients in setting goals for personal and professional growth, navigating life transitions (new parenthood, career changes, diagnoses), and maintaining or obtaining employment through targeted occupational therapy strategies.
