What if the family already have a diagnosis of ADHD?

9 -17 year old’s – if they have a previous diagnosis this can be reviewed and considered, if acceptable can be forwarded for part B specifically to look at a treatment plan, consent and GP exam requested in advance.

​All 9- 15 year old’s will need a full assessment (Part A below) regardless of whether they have a previous diagnosis or not.

We understand that seeking answers about your child’s ADHD symptoms can be complicated, which is why our assessments evaluate both ADHD and other conditions that might affect their wellbeing. This ensures your child receives the most accurate diagnosis and appropriate support for their needs. 

16 -17 year old's

  • GMH Qu for 16-17 yo’s (is already on Janeapp)
  • Weiss Parent Functional Report
  • Wender Utah RS
  • Conners Parent, Teacher* and Self (*If a young person is not at school or does not want to send a Conners to the school they are to be forwarded the link for the CREYOS assessment to complete alongside the parent and self Conner)
  • School reports primary and secondary, and any further reports eg psychology assessments, OT, paediatrics etc , even if parent doesn’t think it is relevant it usually is and these can be revised together

9-15 year old's

  • GMH Qu for 9 to 15 yo’s (only requires info from parents, not child)
  • Weiss Parent Functional Report
  • Wender Utah RS
  • Conners Parent, Teacher and Self* (*children under 12 should not do the self report, it is too tricky for them usually)
  • School reports primary and secondary, and any further reports eg psychology assessments, OT, paediatrics etc , even if parent doesn’t think it is relevant it usually is and these can be revised together

Documentation requested prior booking Part B (treatment planning)

  • GP screening exam to be requested in advance
  • Parental consent to be requested in advance
  • ADHD assessment and any further reports eg psychology assessments, OT, paediatrics etc

What Is Typically Covered In The Assessment (A), Booked As 2 x 1hour Slots Approx. 2 Weeks Apart

Part A1 (1 hour)

  • Revision of all documentation and questionnaires
  • Details on presenting challenges. Social circumstances. Educational history.
  • Screening for wider issues that may present as ADHD or occur co-morbidly as suggested by interview.
  • Detailed developmental history eg details of pregnancy, birth, milestones, etc.
  • Family mental health history – maternal or paternal sides
  • If the teacher’s Conners report is not suggestive of an ADHD diagnosis then additional collateral from school will be sought from child’s teacher – more detailed school report

If teacher Conners is not appropriate then CREYOS assessment to be considered

Part A2 (1 hour) typically 2 weeks after part A1 (the 2 weeks is to allow time for further information

  • Gathering eg from school as needed)
  • Revise diagnostic criteria for ADHD
  • Explore wider diagnoses / additional concerns
  • Feedback on all assessment tools and diagnostic opinion
  • Recommendations for psychoeducation, parents supports and typical school recommendations
  • If appropriate, brief discussion on role of medication

Part B (1 hour) GP screening exam to be requested in advance Parental consent to be requested in advance

  • Work up for medication, revision of physical exam and establish baseline
  • Discussion on medication mechanism of action
  • Explanation for monitoring for both effectiveness and side effects
  • Tailored treatment plan with focus on lifestyle, behavioral and psychological interventions as relevant
